I. Teaching goals

  1. To learn the new words and phrases in this story
  2. To read and understand a part of the story Alice in Wonderland.

II. Teaching focuses : Use the vocabulary related to the story.

III. Teaching difficulties: To be able to understand the story.

IV. Teaching aids: a blackboard, an electronic whiteboard.

V. Teaching procedures

Step 1: Lead-in

1.       Revise the outdoor activities and ask the students to talk about their outdoor activities.

2.       Talk about my outdoor activity and show a picture on the screen.

3.       Ask a question: “ Who is the main character of the story?”

Step 2: Presentation

1.       Now let’s listen to the story to find more about Alice’s adventures.

2.       Find out the new words and phrases and write them on the blackboard.

3.       Learn the new words together.

Step 2: Practice

1.       Ask the students to read and translate the passage. Then answer the following questions

(1)    Where did Alice see a white rabbit?

(2)    What did the rabbit do?

(3)    Where did the rabbit go?

(4)    What did Alice do after the rabbit?

(5)    Why did she do that?

(6)    What did Alice find on the table?

(7)    Did Alice open the door?

(8)    What could Alice see on the other side of the door?

2.Read the story together.

3. Look at the book and do the exercises PartB1 on Page71

4. Do the exercises PartB2 on Page71

5. Do the exercises PartB3 on Page72

Step 3: Practice

Do some exercises about this period.

Step 4: Make a summary

In this period, we learned the key words and phrases in the text and talked about the main information of the story.

Step 5: Homework

1. Revise the new words and phrases.

2.Listen, repeat and recite the story.

3.Finish Reading I in the exercise book.

4.Preview Reading II.
